THE WEDDING BRANDER™ – EFD CREATIVE-EVENT PLANNING & DESIGN
The Wedding Brander® herself, Edna Dratch-Parker of EFD Creative-Event Planning & Design chats with us about how her design brand came to be!
1. How long has EFD Creative been established?
EFD Creative-Event Planning & Design was established in 2009.
2. What motivated you to start your business in the event industry?
My background is in art. I graduated from Maine College of Art, so thinking about design is really part of who I am and how I approach everything. I saw there was an opportunity to help couples take a more design-driven approach to their weddings, to bring their own personality into one of life’s most important occasions. From my point of view, design and planning should be fused together from very start.
There is no shortage of interest in people wanting to express their own style – look at all the reality TV shows focused on design! Even though the internet has made it easy to pin favorites and share the best design ideas in the world, understanding what these options might mean for your wedding, and how to create your own vision by successfully incorporating the best design elements can be overwhelming. I wanted to help with this process and parlay my experiences as professional designer, marketer, and event planner to help couples create a more personalized wedding experience – what I call wedding branding. This approach is how The Wedding Brander ™ came to life.
3. What are some of the awards you have won?
EFD Creative Recognized for Wedding of the Year, EFD Creative Named Wedding Planner Magazine Trendsetter of the Year, EFD Creative Recognized for Wedding of the Year, EFD Creative Named Social Event Planner of the Year
4. What makes your company unique?
The decades of experience we bring from the design world – from fashion to advertising to event planning – has given EFD Creative a unique perspective in the wedding industry. It’s enabled us to create personalized, designed weddings and influence a whole new category of wedding branding. That sets us apart, but what also resonates strongly with our clients is the incredible passion and love we have for what we do! This is just as important, because we’re being invited into the one of the most important occasions in a couple’s life. We’re inspired by our couples and I think that is something they recognize and feel from us. We’re invested in getting to know them – who they are, their stories and what they’re hoping to experience on their big day. We couldn’t do what we do without making this type of personal investment in the people and the process. It gives us the ability to truly understand their needs and how they want to express themselves. Then we can bring all the pieces together to make the journey fun and exciting!
5. What is one piece of advice you give to every bride?
Six weeks before my wedding my husband was in a serious motorcycle accident. He’s okay now, but at the time we weren’t sure what the outcome would be. I learned very quickly what was truly important! Luckily, we were able to get through it and hold our wedding as planned…but what mattered most was that I had my husband! All the things I was stressing out about before the accident suddenly seemed so insignificant. This is what I always remind my couples. It can be easy to get overwhelmed – getting married is such an emotional and exciting time – but it’s also important to keep it all in perspective. I always tell my couples – remember, it’s about the love! It’s about celebration! And no matter what, we always can find a solution to the problem.
