This wedding was published on MA Wedding Guide…here is an excerpt from the post:

Katie and Mark’s wedding concept was different than most: a feel of old time Havana, with the carefree cabana style from the 40′s. Katie decided she wanted this wedding to be a tribute to both sets of her grandparents. Both had eloped at a young age; her paternal grandparents in New England and her maternal grandparents in Havana, Cuba. So this would be the wedding they never had. As quoted from the Mother of the Bride: “Edna, from EFD Creative – Event Planning & Design, was invaluable in helping us pull it all together; she found just the right vendors and inspiration to bring Katie’s vision to life. Jo and David of Allegro Photography did an incredible job of capturing not only the big moments but most importantly all the love and joy that surrounded us.”

An authentic cigar roller, cabana tent, mojito signature drinks along with mojito lollipops that were used as place cards, helped to pull the wedding together. The florist worked her magic with palm leaves and a tropical arrangement held inside antique cigar boxes. The table numbers were old-fashioned postcards from the era with photos that represented old Havana. Antique style cigar match boxes, family heirloom jewelry rounded out the many touches that made this day feel like a trip to Cuba and a wonderful way to tie in her family history. Since she eloped (6 months prior), like her grandparents, she wanted to have the wedding be a tribute to all of their marriages.

The day could not have been more perfect. The ceremony in the Chapel was classic New England typified by the bride’s arrival in a horse drawn surrey complete with fringe on top. At the tented reception, tropical flowers were everywhere, adding to the Havana feel. The wedding cake, decorated with tropical flowers as well, was incredible. Guests were greeted by Mojitos, their signature drink while the gentlemen, and quite a few of the ladies, all enjoyed a hand-rolled cigar in the outside cabana. It was a great party – just the way she wanted it!
